Welcome to the Caparea.NET SharePoint SIG!
The SharePoint Special Interest Group (SSIG) is focused on delivering the content the users want.  While the SharePoint platform is extensive, we plan to deliver speakers able to address a wide variety of topics, including development, information architecture, user experience, governance and infrastructure.  All these components come together to create the best SharePoint experience.

We hope to see you soon!

Agile SharePoint - Notes from the Field - May 17th, 2012 Minimize
David Berry
Agile is a methodology gaining in popularity which can lend itself well to SharePoint implementations. However, it is often misunderstood or misinterpreted. In this session, I will share my experiences with SCRUM (an Agile framework), some of the challenges and pitfalls of adopting and implementing an Agile methodology, and why I think it is aptly suited for SharePoint engagements. As it relates to SharePoint, I’ll discuss my experiences with development sprints and how I addressed documentation, user experience, infrastructure, testing and governance.

David has over 11 years’ experience with SharePoint and currently leads the architecture, design and planning of SharePoint 2010 engagements. Having almost 20 years’ experience in consulting and technology, David focused on the Microsoft development platform which also included working on Content Management Server 2002, the forerunner to SharePoint’s WCM capabilities. David also co-manages the CapArea.NET SharePoint group in Northern Virginia.

Claims Will Get the Job Done - February 29th Minimize
Sahil Malik

Claims based authentication has been around for a while. But as we start to become more and more decentralized, start using mobile applications, and develop applications that need to work across your firewall boundary between organizations or with the cloud, claims based authentication becomes a necessity. In this module, we start with the basics of CBA in SharePoint and otherwise, and go deeper and deeper until our nose bleeds, whichever comes first.

Sahil Malik, the founder and principal of Winsmarts.com, has been a Microsoft MVP and INETA Speaker for the past 10 years, author and reviewer of many books and numerous articles in both the .NET and SharePoint space, consultant and trainer who delivers training and talks at conferences internationally. Sahil has trained for the best names in the Microsoft technology space, and has architected and delivered SharePoint based solutions for extremely high profile clients. Sahil has been deeply involved in SharePoint 2010, and is the author of Microsoft SharePoint 2010: Building Solutions for SharePoint 2010, and Pro SharePoint 2010 Business Intelligence Solutions published by Apress.
