Tuesday, Aug 26th, 7:00PM WCF in SharePoint 2007
Speaker: Sahil Malik, MVP
Location: AT&T Building, 1900 Gallows Road, Tysons Corner
WCF is kind of old news. It was introduced as Indigo, back when Michael Jackson was still cool (well almost!). Yet, it is amazing that nobody in the SharePoint 2007 world uses it. Why should that be? Well I guess one of the reasons is the lack of out of box support for WCF in SharePoint. But is it so hard to make SharePoint work with WCF? And is there any good reason for SharePoint to work with WCF? The answers are – no, and ABSOLUTELY! In this session, Sahil uses a pure Windows 2008, Visual Studio 2008, SQL Server 2008 environment to conjure up some .NET 3.5 + SharePoint 2007 magic. You really shouldn’t miss this talk!
Sahil Malik is a nice guy and maintains a website at www.winsmarts.com. His talks are very compelling and terribly informal. He is also an INETA speaker, Microsoft MVP, trainer, consultant, and has spoken at conferences internationally. Currently he is co-authoring his fourth book on SQL Server 2008 for MSPress.
Great Food and Prizes!
Summer may be winding down, the Olympics are over, and the Bush era is almost complete - just in time for Caparea.Net to get sizzling! This month we follow up Vishwas Lele's awesome talk on WCF anf WF with Sahil Malik, SharePoint and WCF. This will be a great talk and one that you really don't want to miss. Sahil has really been working hard on the speaker circuit honing his presentation skills so he can rock out at Caparea.net.
See you there!

Special Announcments
Ted Pattison would like to extend a user group discount of 15% to all registered individuals for any class taken in 2008. This discount applies to our information worker classes down to the intense developer courses.

We are pleased to announce the launch of the SharePoint Special Interest Group. This group will be meeting on the second Wednesday of every month at the AT&T location. The same place where Caparea.net meets. This is very exciting not only because SharePoint is cool and is big enough to have it's own group, but two of our own members have stepped up to build this new Caparea.net community. David Berry and Gregory Stringfellow have taken the helm as co-captains and founders of this new group. As a member of the Caparea.net family, the SharePoint Special Interest Group will be supported by Caparea.net.
CALL FOR SPEAKERS - SHAREPOINT SIG
The Capital Area .Net SharePoint SIG is looking for great speakers and topics to fill in the schedule for August, September and October. If you or someone you know would be interested in speaking on a SharePoint topic, please contact Scott Lock at scott@caparea.net or stop by the next Caparea.net or SharePoint SIG Meeting!
