Welcome to the Caparea.NET SharePoint SIG!
The SharePoint Special Interest Group (SSIG) is focused on delivering the content the users want.  While the SharePoint platform is extensive, we plan to deliver speakers able to address a wide variety of topics, including development, information architecture, user experience, governance and infrastructure.  All these components come together to create the best SharePoint experience.

Topics
Be one the lookout for SharePoint 2010!  It will be released by Microsoft in the first quarter of 2010 but the technical preview is out there and being reviewed by some of our local experts.

 SharePoint 2010 Silverlight Ribbon – Add a New Button and Enable Based on Selection - March 10th Minimize
Joe Crabtree
Presentation will start with a brief overview of Silverlight integration into SharePoint 2010. The new Silverlight Ribbon for SharePoint 2010 is a great addition and the presentation will go over its basic features and cool new additions. Finally, we will cover adding a new button to the ribbon and enabling it based on a single item selection.
 
Joe Crabtree is the lead solutions developer for Watkins IT, specializing in all things .NET – web/windows/WPF/WCF/Ajax apps, Silverlight, and SharePoint. Joe has a BS in Computer and Information Technology from the Purdue University School of Engineering. Joe has been developing in .NET since its inception in 2001 and has over10 years of software development experience. Joe is also an Eagle Scout and enjoys golf, music, and cooking in his free time.

 Data Access Techniques in SharePoint 2010 - April 14th Minimize
Jim Mullennix

SharePoint 2010 has a host of new features and new and better ways to do things than we currently do in MOSS.  We’ll give an overview of many of the new features, paying special attention to data access topics, such as large list support, Business Connectivity Services, Linq, REST, and the new Client Object Model.

Jim Mullennix is a Senior Solutions Architect for Applied Information Sciences (AIS).  He has over 6 years experience in the SharePoint realm dating back to the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Beta days and has been participating in a TAP project with SharePoint 2010 for over a year.  At AIS, Jim is a member of the Corporate Technology Staff, specializing in SharePoint related technologies, helping AIS stay on the cutting edge of SharePoint development and providing guidance to AIS customers.

 SharePoint 2010 Sandbox Solutions - May 11th Minimize
Srini Sistla
With a lot new features included in SharePoint 2010, it has and will become very easy for the developers to design, develop compelling and robust applications and deploy them safely using the new Sandboxed Solutions. The speaker would speak on why we need Sandboxed Solutions; cover Sandbox Solution Building, Deployment, Debugging, Monitoring and various other stages.
 
Srini is Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist with over 10 years of experience designing and implementing IT solutions on a variety of platforms, including SharePoint Services, SharePoint Server 2007 and now evaluating SharePoint 2010 beta.  He works in many areas within SharePoint; however, his area of expertise includes SharePoint Features, the SharePoint API and Branding.   As a subject matter expert, Srini is often asked to review, improve and approve a variety of technical designs and approaches.  He regularly contributes to several blogs, has done a fair amount of speaking, training and authored several screencasts. twitter @srinisistla and blog @ http://codename-srini.blogspot.com
